UGT, CCOO and the employers' association sign the collective agreement for the Wood sector in Toledo, with an 11.5% salary increase for the period 2026-2029 and a reduction in working hours.

The unions UGT FICA, CCOO Hábitat and the Association of Wood Entrepreneurs of Castilla-La Mancha signed this Friday the collective agreement for the Wood sector in the province of Toledo. The agreement, which affects nearly 5,000 workers, establishes a salary increase of 11.5% for the period 2026-2029.

The increase will be distributed progressively: a 3% for 2026, another 3% for 2027, a 3% for 2028 and 2.5% for 2029. Additionally, the agreement includes a salary review clause that guarantees that if the CPI exceeds that accumulated 11.5% in 2029, workers will receive a compensatory payment for the deviation.

Reduction of Working Hours and Standard Work Calendar

Another highlighted point is the reduction of annual working hours, which will decrease from the current 1,752 hours to 1,742 hours in 2029. This measure represents a step forward in work-life balance for employees in the sector.

The agreement also introduces a standard work calendar as a reference for all companies in the province. Those companies that fail to agree on their own calendar must apply the agreed model, which provides legal security and uniformity in conditions.

Furthermore, it incorporates the possibility of requesting an unpaid leave of between 2 and 30 days, an additional tool for work flexibility.

Union Assessment and Context of the Agreement

The Federation of Industry, Construction and Agriculture of UGT FICA has positively assessed the agreement, emphasizing that it represents a significant update of the purchasing power of the workforce and an advancement in labour rights. According to the union, this pact demonstrates the effectiveness of collective bargaining as a tool to improve working conditions.

For workers in the Wood sector in Toledo, this agreement implies a real salary increase above the expected inflation, which protects their purchasing power. Additionally, the reduction of working hours and the new standard calendar facilitate the organization of working time.

The agreement comes into effect this year and will be applied retroactively from January 1, 2026. Companies in the sector must adapt their payrolls and work calendars to the new conditions before the end of the year.
