The Hostelería Albacete Unida Association (HAU) denounces that it has been excluded from the collective bargaining negotiations for the hospitality sector, despite representing a significant part of the sector in the province.

The Hostelería Albacete Unida (HAU) Association has made its complaint public for being excluded from the collective bargaining table for the hospitality sector, a process it considers key to the future of the sector. The association groups a growing number of business owners and establishments in Albacete and its province, and argues that its absence diminishes the representativeness of the agreement.

Lack of real representation in negotiations

According to HAU, the exclusion has occurred despite the fact that the association represents a very significant part of the local hospitality sector. The organization criticizes the talk of dialogue and consensus while preventing participation from an entity that groups numerous business owners.

“It is difficult to understand how there can be talk of dialogue, consensus, and representativeness while preventing participation from an organization that groups a growing number of business owners,” HAU states.

The association regrets that both APEHT and the unions CCOO and UGT have squandered the opportunity to build a more open and plural negotiation. They believe that a convention negotiated without broad representation is born with a deficit of participation and can hardly be considered the voice of the entire sector.

Impact on the hospitality sector in Albacete

The hospitality industry in Albacete has undergone significant changes in recent years, and with them, its business representation has evolved. HAU warns that ignoring this reality means turning a blind eye to an important part of the business owners who generate employment, investment, and wealth in the province. More than 200 establishments would be represented by HAU, according to sources from the association.

The exclusion of HAU raises doubts about the legitimacy of the future agreement. For business owners in the sector, having an agreement that reflects the diversity of interests is essential to ensure fair working and economic conditions. The association demands an explanation of the criteria followed to prevent their participation and calls for transparency in the process.

Next steps and demands

Hostelería Albacete Unida will continue to advocate for a hospitality sector where all business owners have a voice. The association does not rule out taking legal action or mobilisations if their exclusion is not corrected. Looking to the future, they request that negotiations be reopened with a more inclusive table.

For the hoteliers of Albacete, this conflict represents an opportunity to reflect on how collective agreements are negotiated. Transparency and participation are key to achieving solid and representative agreements. HAU urges the parties involved to reconsider their stance and work together for the good of the sector.
