Yucatán's network of entrepreneurship hubs reaches 78 spaces with the incorporation of Asociación Sofía IAP, which will provide training and advice to 35 women.
The entrepreneurial ecosystem of Yucatán adds a new node. The Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurs (IYEM) has incorporated Asociación Sofía IAP as an entrepreneurship hub, raising the state network to 78 spaces of linkage distributed across various municipalities. This alliance will allow the members of this organization to access training programs, advice, and tools to boost their productive projects.
A network that grows with a social vocation
With the signing of the agreement, IYEM strengthens a network made up of public and private schools, business chambers, civil associations, private assistance institutions, and rehabilitation centres. All of them share the goal of bringing entrepreneurship opportunities to different sectors of the population. The general director of IYEM, Salvador Vitelli Macías, stated that the incorporation of new hubs responds to the aim of expanding the coverage of entrepreneurship programs and bringing them closer to more communities, sectors, and regions of Yucatán.
The network of hubs is not only growing in number but also in diversity. The inclusion of a private assistance institution like Asociación Sofía IAP demonstrates that entrepreneurship can be a tool for social inclusion. Vitelli Macías highlighted that the key lies in forging alliances with organizations that are already working on the ground, so that resources reach those who need them most.
35 entrepreneurial women, new opportunities
The president of Asociación Sofía IAP, Rosa Amaranda Becerra Puerto, emphasized that this agreement will open new opportunities for the 35 women who actively participate in the organization. Through this linkage, they will be able to access training programs for entrepreneurs, support to strengthen their productive projects, tools to develop new business skills, and spaces for connection with the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Yucatán.
“A group of entrepreneurs is coming with me, but I always go ahead to see how the situation is and then invite them, because I wouldn't include them in something I didn't trust myself,” said Becerra Puerto.
The trust built with IYEM was key to driving this alliance. For the entrepreneurs of the association, this agreement represents a qualitative leap: they move from working in isolation to integrating into a network that offers training, contacts, and visibility. IYEM, for its part, gains an ally with direct knowledge of the needs of vulnerable groups.
Asociación Sofía: more than assistance, empowerment
Asociación Sofía is a Private Assistance Institution (IAP) dedicated to the comprehensive human development of people in vulnerable situations. Among its actions are the design and execution of medical, labour, and social assistance programs, aimed at generating better development opportunities for those who are part of the organization. With this agreement, its members will also be able to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacities, access specialized advice, and expand their possibilities of achieving greater economic autonomy.
The commitment to entrepreneurship as a means of empowerment is not coincidental. In a state where the informal economy and lack of opportunities hit women hard, initiatives like this offer a real way out. The IYEM network of hubs thus consolidates as a living ecosystem, which not only counts spaces but also stories of transformation. The next goal: to continue adding nodes so that no corner of Yucatán is left out of the entrepreneurial map.
