The savings generated by the autonomous IRPF deductions in Asturias soared by 69% in 2024, reaching €91.7 million, according to the latest data from the Tax Agency. A total of 107,600 taxpayers took advantage of these bonuses, with an average saving of €853 per declaration. When joint declarations are included, the impact reached 126,000 people, compared to 105,000 in the previous year.
The deductions for children and large families, the most utilised
The Asturian government has highlighted that the deductions with the greatest impact are those for the care of children and for large families, which accounted for savings of €46 million. These measures are part of the so-called 'Asturian fiscal pathway', a package of bonuses designed to promote birth rates, support families, and facilitate access to housing.
The regional government has stated that the results confirm the sustained growth of this tax policy. “There were more beneficiaries, more savings for families, and a direct impact for those who most need a useful tax policy,” it noted in a statement.
Housing and youth, the other major beneficiaries
In terms of housing, savings reached €25.3 million, thanks to deductions for rental or investment in primary residences, as well as those aimed at owners who rent out their properties. The deduction for essential youth expenses achieved savings of €12.6 million in its first year of application, along with an additional €1.1 million linked to the bonus for the emancipation of young people up to 35 years old.
These figures reflect the Principality's effort to alleviate the tax burden on the most vulnerable groups and stimulate the housing market. For Asturian taxpayers, the message is clear: reviewing autonomous deductions can lead to significant savings in the upcoming tax return.
What do these figures mean for the taxpayer?
For an average taxpayer, taking advantage of these deductions can translate into savings of several hundred euros. The bonuses for children and large families are the most accessible, but there are also options for tenants, owners, and young people. The deadline for submitting the 2025 tax return will begin in April 2026, so Asturian taxpayers have time to gather the necessary documentation.
The Asturian government expects the number of beneficiaries to continue growing in the coming years, as these measures are consolidated and budget allocations for tax policy are expanded.
