The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes and the Ministry of Women present 'Women Who Lead', with 150 scholarships for an executive programme and a framework agreement to promote women's economic autonomy.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) and the Ministry of Women have launched a partnership to strengthen female leadership in the productive sector. The initiative, named Women Who Lead, includes the granting of 150 scholarships for an Executive Programme in Female Leadership and the signing of a framework cooperation agreement.

150 scholarships for executives and entrepreneurs

The scholarships for the Executive Programme in Female Leadership are aimed at women in managerial positions, businesswomen, and entrepreneurs. The goal is to strengthen skills in decision-making, strategic direction, and organisational management, as explained by sources from the MICM.

The programme aims to increase the female presence in leadership positions within the productive sector. The training will focus on practical skills for business management and innovation.

“Economic autonomy is one of the pillars for advancing towards a more equal society,” stated the Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes.

Framework agreement for gender equity

The agreement signed between both institutions includes joint actions in key areas. Among them, training and capacity building, promoting female leadership, support for digitalisation and financial education, and promoting access to markets and value chains.

The implementation of the Equalising RD Seal in industrial companies and mipymes will also be encouraged, a distinction that recognises good practices in gender equality. To follow up, an inter-institutional technical table will be created.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, highlighted that the country’s economic growth requires fully harnessing the talent and leadership of women. “This alliance strengthens the coordination to promote policies that expand female participation in industry, mipymes, and entrepreneurship,” he noted.

Impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem

The initiative benefits not only established executives but also entrepreneurs looking to scale their businesses. The scholarships and mentoring programme aim to create a collaborative network that enhances the professional and business development of the participants.

For small and medium enterprises led by women, the agreement opens the door to new training opportunities and access to financing. Additionally, indicators will be generated on female participation in the productive sector, allowing for progress measurement.

Those interested in the scholarships should keep an eye out for announcements that will be published soon by the MICM and the Ministry of Women. The training will be provided by specialised academic institutions, although specific details of the selection process have not yet been revealed.
