Venezuelan jockey Junior Alvarado, Meridiano Athlete 2025, rides Grand Job in the Honorable Miss Stakes (G2), a $250,000 sprint race taking place this Sunday at Saratoga Race.

The Venezuelan jockey Junior Alvarado, recognised as Meridiano Athlete 2025, faces a new high-level challenge this Sunday at Saratoga Racecourse in New York. There he will ride Grand Job in the Honorable Miss Stakes (G2), a 1200-metre sprint on dirt, with a prize of $250,000.

The race has gathered seven mature mares, among which Kappa Kappa stands out as the clear favourite. This 4-year-old mare, owned by LC Racing and Wellesley Stable, seeks her second Grade 2 victory after winning the Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keeneland last October. She is ridden by the experienced Irad Ortiz Jr.

Grand Job, owned by Bell Tower Thoroughbreds, Medallion Racing, and Mark Stanton, arrives at the Honorable Miss after a brilliant victory in the Inside Information (G2) in January at Gulfstream Park. Since then, she has achieved two consecutive second places, making her a serious contender.

For Junior Alvarado, this race represents an opportunity to add another Grade 2 win to his season. The Venezuelan jockey, who has achieved significant success in the United States, trusts in Grand Job's potential to prevail at a distance that suits her running style.

The race is run over six furlongs (1200 metres), a distance that demands explosive speed from the start. The dirt track at Saratoga is known for being fast, promising an exciting duel between the two main contenders.

Kappa Kappa, trained by Butch Reid Jr., boasts a record of 7-4-1-0, with four wins and one second place. Her victory in the Raven Run Stakes was by a head, demonstrating her ability to win in tight finishes. Meanwhile, Grand Job has shown remarkable consistency, with two consecutive second places following her victory at Gulfstream.

The Honorable Miss Stakes is one of the standout sprint races on the Saratoga calendar, and this year's edition promises strong emotions. Horse racing fans can follow the race live from the racetrack or through betting platforms.

Junior Alvarado, who has been a key figure in Venezuelan and American turf, seeks to add a new trophy to his collection. His mount, Grand Job, has real chances of victory if she can maintain her top speed until the end.

The race will take place on Sunday at Saratoga Racecourse, with a scheduled start time of 17:00 local time. A large turnout is expected, drawn by the luxurious lineup and the high value of the prize.
