A 54-year-old man was injured in the head after being struck with stones by his neighbour in the Fundo Legal neighbourhood of Nogales. The victim was taken to the IMSS Bienestar Hospital.
A neighbour from the Fundo Legal neighbourhood in Nogales was attacked with stones to the head by another resident, according to a report from the Municipal Police. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the victim, identified as Saúl, 54, left his home after hearing insults directed at his wife.
The events were recorded around 17:42 hours when Municipal Police officers were alerted by the C5 about a brawl on Unión Street. Upon arrival, the agents found a man covering his head with a shirt stained with blood, prompting them to request the presence of paramedics from the Red Cross.
The victim recounted that his neighbour knocked on his window and challenged him to come out for a “fight.” Initially, Saúl ignored the provocation, but when the aggressor began insulting his wife, he decided to confront him. At that moment, the neighbour repeatedly struck him on the head with two stones he was holding.
Red Cross paramedics transported the injured man to the IMSS Bienestar Hospital, where he was assessed with a head injury that, according to the medical report, will take more than 15 days to heal. The Municipal Police reported the case to the Early Attention Centre for investigation.
The authorities have not provided details about the identity of the aggressor or whether legal actions have been initiated. The incident has raised concerns among residents of the Fundo Legal neighbourhood, who are calling for increased surveillance to prevent similar occurrences.
Such types of assaults, although isolated, reflect the importance of neighbour mediation and the early reporting of conflicts. Authorities recommend not responding to provocations and contacting the police in the event of any threats.
The investigation continues under the Early Attention Centre, which will determine the corresponding responsibilities.
