The President of the Government chaired a new coordination meeting on Monday, via videoconference, to address the situation in Ceuta, with the participation of eight ministers.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has chaired a new coordination meeting, held via videoconference, to analyse the evolution of the migration and security crisis in Ceuta. The meeting included the First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, and the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, Territorial Policy, Inclusion, and Youth and Childhood.

The meeting, similar to the one held on August 7, served to review the ongoing actions to tackle this situation, in collaboration with regional institutions and other organisations. Necessary measures were also discussed to strengthen the security and well-being guarantees for the Ceuta population.

According to the official statement, the Executive is reinforcing the identification and care tasks for the migrants who still remain in the autonomous city. Government sources have indicated that the priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Ceuta, while continuing humanitarian assistance to migrants.

The meeting took place just two weeks after the previous one, reflecting the constant attention of the Executive to the situation at the southern border. The President of the Government has insisted on the need to maintain coordination among all the involved administrations.

So far, no new concrete measures have been announced, but the Executive assures that it will continue to work in a coordinated manner with local authorities and humanitarian organisations to resolve the situation.
