The Morena member Andrés Mijes Llovera submitted a request to the Superior Audit Office of the Federation to review the use of federal resources in unfinished works in Nuevo León, including his own management in Escobedo.
The former mayor of Escobedo and candidate for state coordinator of the Defence of Transformation, Andrés Mijes Llovera, went to Mexico City this Wednesday to formally submit a request to the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF). The request seeks for the auditing body to review the use of federal resources allocated to various infrastructure projects that remain unfinished in Nuevo León.
Mijes was accompanied by federal deputy Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar and other Morena legislators. The request includes the auditing of works such as the expansion of the Collective Transport System, the Interserrana Highway, water management projects, and other constructions linked to the World Cup event, all financed with federal money.
The document also includes a review of the budget management of the Municipality of Escobedo during Mijes' own administration. The Morena politician stated that the audit does not pose a risk for those who have managed resources honestly, but rather a tool to strengthen citizen trust.
“Trust is earned by facing the public, not by seeking protection from power. I say this loud and clear: lying from power is cowardice. Governing with lies is treason,” Mijes Llovera asserted.
The request comes amid political tensions between the state government, led by Samuel García, and Morena legislators. Mijes avoided directly responding to the governor's criticisms and assured that he would let the auditing bodies determine if any anomalies exist.
“Today I come to have my management reviewed. I have clean hands and that makes me proud as someone who aspires to defend Transformation and Sovereignty throughout Nuevo León,” he emphasised.
The Morena member requested that the ASF determine the financial and physical status of the projects, as well as the correct application of federal allocations. He emphasised that authorities must be held accountable, especially when it comes to unfinished infrastructure.
“Demanding accountability is neither persecution nor disrespect. Demanding accountability is a democratic requirement. The President, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has been clear: governments must act with honesty, transparency, and accountability,” he added.
The ASF will need to review the request and determine the appropriate procedure, as well as the scope of any potential audit. If carried out, it could shed light on the use of federal funds in Nuevo León and in the municipality of Escobedo.
For the citizens of Nuevo León, this request represents the possibility of gaining a clearer understanding of how public resources have been used in key projects for the region. Transparency in the management of federal funds is a recurring issue on the state political agenda.
