The Tax Agency has already refunded 79.1% of the refund requests from the 2025 Income Tax Campaign, with a payout of €9.362 billion. A total of 25.6 million declarations were submitted, 4.2% more than the previous year.
The Tax Agency has processed most of the refunds from the 2025 Income Tax Campaign. According to official data, by the end of July, €9.362 billion has been refunded to 12.95 million taxpayers, representing 79.1% of the requests that resulted in a refund. The total amount committed amounts to €14.089 billion, meaning that 33.6% of the money is still to be paid.
Record number of declarations submitted
The campaign, which ended on June 30, has set records: 25.6 million declarations were submitted, 4.2% more than in 2024. Of these, 16.37 million resulted in refunds, while 7.47 million had to be paid, generating a total income for the Tax Agency of €24.721 billion, almost 20% more than the previous year.
The overall net balance shows a benefit for the Treasury of €10.632 billion, driven by non-withheld income and capital gains. Economic communicator Iván Alonso highlighted on 'La Linterna' that "the Tax Agency has already refunded 80% of the income tax declarations that resulted in refunds", a figure that reflects the efficiency of the process.

Deadlines and how to check the status of your refund
The Tax Agency has a legal deadline until December 31 to make all refund payments. If the taxpayer has not received their money after this date without justified cause, the Tax Agency must automatically pay late interest.
Those still waiting for their refund can check the status of their case on the Tax Agency's electronic headquarters, in the My Cases section. To access, you need the Cl@ve system, the reference number, or a digital certificate. Most payments are made via bank transfer to the account indicated in the declaration.
Telematics and tax control: the keys to the campaign
The telematic route has been the main protagonist. The new Direct Income service, for simple settlements, doubled its usage to 2.4 million users. The telephone plan We Call You prepared 1.2 million declarations, while 930,000 taxpayers opted for in-person assistance.
In its control work, the Ministry of Finance sent nearly 160,000 informational notices to citizens whose drafts did not match the tax data. This prompted 53,700 taxpayers to submit voluntary corrective declarations to avoid future fines. Additionally, nearly 228,000 Wealth declarations were registered, mandatory for those with assets and rights exceeding €2 million, with an amount to be paid exceeding €5.2 billion.
For those who have not yet submitted their declaration, it is still possible to do so after the deadline, although with surcharges. The Tax Agency recommends regularising the situation as soon as possible to avoid greater penalties.
