Applications for the Stripe Tour Sydney close in 48 hours. Eight startups will compete on August 19 for credits and a direct pass to the Startup Battlefield 200 in San Francisco.

Stripe and TechCrunch have joined forces to launch a startup competition in Sydney (Australia), with applications closing on July 20. The event, taking place on August 19, 2026, will select eight emerging companies to present their projects to global investors and media. The winner will not only receive 15,000 dollars in Stripe credits, but also an automatic pass to the Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

Requirements and Prizes of the Competition

The call is open to startups with a functional minimum viable product (MVP), even if they have not yet generated revenue. Organisers have emphasised that they are not looking for perfection, but rather transformative potential. "The key question is: does this really change anything?" event sources stated. The first prize amounts to 15,000 dollars in Stripe fee credits and a spot in the Startup Battlefield 200. The second and third place winners will receive 5,000 and 2,000 dollars in credits, respectively.

Participation is free and does not involve equity transfer. Interested startups must submit their application before 23:59 (AEST) on July 20 via the form provided by the organisers. There will be no extensions or waiting list, so founders must act quickly.

Impact on the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

This collaboration between Stripe and TechCrunch represents a unique opportunity for Australian startups to gain international visibility. The winner will gain direct access to the Startup Battlefield 200, a global showcase that brings together the most promising startups on the planet. For the other participants, the competition provides a platform to connect with global investors and tech media.

The event will take place in Sydney on August 19, 2026. Organisers advise founders not to miss the opportunity: "The worst decision is not to apply." Applications are accepted through a link provided by TechCrunch and Stripe.
