The Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) reaches 43,162 registered in the province of Jaén, the highest figure of 2026, after adding 171 new members in June.
Self-employment in the province of Jaén continues to gain ground. The latest data from the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA), published by the Association of Self-Employed Workers (ATA), confirms that 43,162 professionals are registered, the highest figure of the year 2026. This record represents an increase of 171 members just during the month of June, a 0.4% rise compared to May.
Sustained growth in all comparisons
The evolution is positive both in the short and medium term. Compared to June 2025, the province has 322 more freelancers, representing an advance of 0.8%. Although this percentage is below the Andalusian average (1.9%) and the national average (1.5%), the data confirms that self-employment is consolidating in the area.
Since December 2025, 468 new members have joined the RETA, reflecting an upward trend during the first six months of the year. The monthly growth in Jaén (0.4%) slightly exceeds the Spanish average (0.3%) and aligns with that of Andalusia.
Andalusian leadership in the national context
In the whole of Andalusia, all provinces closed June with a positive balance in the number of freelancers. Málaga led the increase with 612 new self-employed workers, followed by Cádiz (435) and Sevilla (340). Jaén, with its 171 new members, is positioned at a more moderate level but within the overall upward trend.
For entrepreneurs in Jaén, this data represents a favourable environment to start or consolidate a business. The sustained increase in self-employment indicates that the local economy offers opportunities, although the growth rate is lower than in other provinces. Experts recommend taking advantage of the available aid and advice for new freelancers, such as the bonuses on the RETA fee during the first months.
"Self-employment continues to be a key avenue for job creation in the province," say sources from ATA, highlighting the importance of maintaining support policies for entrepreneurship.
Looking ahead, the forecast is that the number of freelancers will continue to grow in the coming months, driven by the summer season and economic recovery. Those interested in registering as freelancers can consult the procedures at Social Security or local advisory services.
