The Government approves the public job offer each year to fill new positions in the Administration. Here are the requirements, deadlines, and phases of the process.

The Spanish Constitution guarantees access to the public sector under conditions of equality, merit, and ability. Based on this, the Government approves the public job offer each year, an instrument that defines and quantifies the new personnel needed to ensure public services.

To access a position, the first step is to meet the requirements of the call, submit the application within the deadline, and pay the exam fees, unless an exemption applies. Exempt from payment are individuals with disabilities equal to or greater than 33%, job seekers, large families, and victims of terrorism, among other groups.

The calls are published in the Official State Gazette, on the websites of the calling bodies, and on the portal administracion.gob.es. Additionally, the Government publishes a weekly bulletin with the current calls and professional qualification tests.

How to Submit the Application

The preferred method is electronic, through the Selective Tests Registration service of the General Access Point. To do this, it is necessary to identify and sign in with the Cl@ve system. From this service, you can submit the application form, attach documents, pay the fees, and register the application.

If opting for paper, you must electronically complete the application in the official model and submit it at the General Registry of the calling body or at the assistance offices for registration matters.

The submission period is 20 working days from the day after the publication of the call in the BOE.

Examination or Competition-Examination

Access can be through examination, which consists of passing one or more eliminatory exams, or through competition-examination, which adds a competition phase where merits such as academic training, professional experience, or seniority in the administration are evaluated.

The points from the competition phase do not count towards passing the exams, only to improve the final score. For those already working in the administration, seniority counts as merit.

Anyone considering applying for a call should keep an eye on the BOE and official portals, as each process sets its own specific dates and requirements.
