The municipality registers 8,980 unemployed in July, the lowest figure in the last 20 years. This is 38 less than in June and 106 fewer than a year ago.

Móstoles has achieved a historic milestone in the labour market: for the first time in two decades, the number of unemployed in the municipality has fallen below 9,000. According to the registered unemployment data in the Community of Madrid for July 2026, the locality closes the month with 8,980 people in unemployment, 38 less than in June.

Of the total, 3,542 are men and 5,438 are women. The services sector continues to concentrate the largest volume of unemployed, with 7,101 people, followed by construction (680), industry (544), and agriculture (69). The year-on-year rate also reflects an improvement: 106 fewer unemployed than a year ago.

The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has linked these results to municipal employment policies. "For the first time in the last 20 years, we have fallen below 9,000 unemployed", he stated, adding that "municipal employment promotion policies are yielding results in our municipality."

Bautista cited key factors such as support for entrepreneurship and the management of the Employment Agency, with personalised interviews. "These figures motivate us to continue working in the same direction and ensure that more and more residents of Móstoles can find employment," he affirmed.

This figure provides a relief for families in the municipality, who see the downward trend consolidating month after month. The City Council hopes to maintain this path in the coming months, with an eye on the end of summer.
