The automotive brand MG will be the official vehicle of the 44th Copa del Rey Mapfre, held in the Bay of Palma from August 1 to 8, with a fleet of ten electrified cars.

The automotive firm MG has become the official car of the 44th Copa del Rey Mapfre, the international regatta that from August 1 turns the Bay of Palma into the global epicentre of cruising sailing. The company provides a fleet of ten electrified vehicles for the transportation of guests and participants throughout the event.

The fleet consists of the MG HS, ZS, S6, and S9 models, all featuring electrified technology HEV, PHEV, or EV. Through the VIP Shuttle service, guests will be able to travel around Mallorca and experience MG's commitment to more efficient and sustainable mobility first-hand. Additionally, the brand is showcasing a spectacular MG Cyberster at the competition venue.

MG shares values with the Copa del Rey Mapfre such as sporting spirit, effort, teamwork, and respect for the sea, according to the company. This collaboration strengthens MG's international ties with the sailing world, a sport with which the brand already has agreements in other European markets, such as being the official automotive partner of the Royal Yachting Association and the British Sailing Team in the UK, or sponsoring the Sailing Club of the Year award in Ireland.

The Marketing Director of MG Spain, José Antonio Galve, highlighted that the brand shares with the regatta "the vision that excellence must be accompanied by a real commitment to the environment that makes it possible to enjoy sports and nature." Galve emphasized that MG's goal is to bring the most advanced electrification technology to a greater number of users and promote the energy transition of Spain's vehicle fleet.

For his part, the General Director of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Manuel Fraga, welcomed MG and noted that this agreement "allows us to continue improving the event on land, where mobility is a very important aspect that enhances the experience within the Copa."

MG, founded in England in 1924, is present in 34 European markets with a network of over 1,300 dealerships and a 7-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty. In 2025, it surpassed 300,000 units sold in Europe and the UK, and in early 2026 celebrated the delivery of its one millionth vehicle in the European market. The brand is strengthening its presence on the continent with local investments, including a new production plant in Galicia.
