The Magallanes startup Surpay has been enabled to export its cross-border payment platform, a solution that integrates over 40 Argentine banks and is already preparing to reach Brazil, Paraguay, and Colombia.

The Chilean startup Surpay has received formal approval to export its technological services, a key step in its international expansion plan. The company, founded by Luis Alvarado Vidal, has developed a multi-currency point of sale system that allows simultaneous processing of domestic and foreign payments, facilitating transactions in border areas.

From Magallanes to the world: a solution born at the border

The platform was created to solve a daily problem in the Magallanes Region, where thousands of people regularly cross the border into Argentina to shop, tour, or visit family. Until now, many faced difficulties in making payments abroad.

Surpay designed a tool that allows foreign buyers to use their usual payment methods, removing barriers. The system integrates over 40 Argentine banks and platforms like Mercado Pago, and is aimed at Argentine citizens visiting Magallanes and the Free Trade Zone of Punta Arenas, an important commercial hub.

Chilean merchants receive the full amount of sales, while customers pay using QR codes or apps they already use in their country. The solution is already operational and has been validated in the local market.

Expansion to Brazil, Paraguay, and Colombia

After this milestone, Surpay plans to reach other border regions of Chile, especially in the north, where there is intense exchange with Peru and Bolivia. The company is working with ProChile on its internationalization strategy.

The regional director of ProChile, Alejandra Covacevich, confirmed that meetings have been held to plan commercial explorations in Paraguay and Brazil. In Brazil, the platform already includes the integration of the Pix payment system, the most widely used in the country.

Additionally, Surpay has been invited to a fintech fair in Colombia, where it will seek business contacts and growth opportunities in Latin America. Luis Alvarado highlighted that ProChile's support will be key to accelerating entry into new markets, especially where digital wallets are commonly used.

With this advancement, Surpay consolidates itself as an example of the innovative potential of Magallanes, positioning the region as a hub for digital solutions with international projection. The startup hopes that experience in other countries will allow it to refine the platform and adapt it to different commercial scenarios.

For businesses in border areas, this technology represents a significant change: they will be able to serve foreign customers without losing commissions or relying on cash. The coming months will be crucial to see how the Magallanes startup conquers Latin America.
