CSIF and the Garafía City Council have signed a new collective agreement that replaces the one in force for almost two decades. It includes increases in productivity, internal promotion, and social improvements.

The Independent and Civil Servants Union (CSIF) and the Garafía City Council have finalised a new collective agreement for the municipal workforce, after nearly twenty years without an update to the previous one. The agreement, signed this week, introduces substantial changes to the economic and working conditions of the municipal staff.

The text replaces the agreement that had been in force for approximately two decades and has been made possible thanks to a dialogue process between both parties. UGT, with minority representation on the Works Council, has announced that it will adhere to the agreement in a subsequent signing.

Among the most notable new features is an increase in the productivity supplement for those working on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The compensation will be 150 euros per day for the morning shift and 300 euros for the evening-night shift. Additionally, new pathways for internal promotion and horizontal promotion for employees are created.

The agreement also incorporates social improvements such as allowances for marriage, seniority, and education, as well as benefits for healthcare expenses related to dental treatments, prosthetics, orthopaedics, or surgical interventions. The 100% salary supplement during temporary incapacity situations is maintained.

Regarding work organisation, the regime of permissions, holidays, and breaks is updated, and the working week remains at 35 hours. The remuneration for overtime and repayable advances is significantly increased. Work on public holidays will be compensated with 50% in cash and 50% in rest time.

CSIF values the climate of understanding reached and describes the agreement as "modern and beneficial" for both public employees and the improvement of services to the citizens of Garafía. The union appreciates the mayor's involvement and willingness to promote the agreement.

This agreement is the result of the roadmap set two years ago when CSIF gained union representation in the City Council. During this period, in addition to the agreement, other advances have been achieved such as the approval of the protocol against workplace harassment, the equality protocol, the Productivity Regulation, and the upcoming development of the Job Position Relationship (RPT).

CSIF hopes that this agreement can serve as a reference for future negotiations in other city councils. The union assures that it will continue to defend the rights of public employees through collective bargaining.

The new agreement will come into force once it is published in the corresponding official bulletin. The workers of the Garafía City Council will see the improvements applied progressively from that moment.
