FETICO has signed the III Collective Agreement for Citrus of Andarax, S.A., which will benefit the 85 workers at the Don Simón plant in Gádor (Almería). The agreement includes salary improvements, a reduction in Sundays worked, and new study aids.
On Friday, July 10, the III Collective Agreement for Citrus of Andarax, S.A. was signed at the Don Simón plant in Gádor (Almería), belonging to the García Carrión group. The agreement, driven by FETICO, a union with a majority presence at the centre, will benefit the 85 workers at the Almeria plant and represents a significant advance in their working, economic, and social conditions.
Improvements in working and salary conditions
The new agreement incorporates notable improvements, such as the reduction of the maximum number of Sundays and holidays that can be worked, as well as an increase in the remuneration for overtime and work on Sundays and holidays. The night shift bonus is also improved, and the hour bank is regulated more favourably.
In terms of salary, an immediate 2% advance will be applied, pending the outcome of the negotiation of the Sectoral Agreement for Vegetable Preserves. Additionally, the loyalty bonuses are updated, and new study aids for children of the workers are created.
Strengthening equality and diversity
The text develops and strengthens measures regarding equality, diversity, harassment prevention, and non-discrimination, adapting to current regulations. This consolidates a safer, more inclusive, and respectful work environment, in line with current legal requirements.
Furthermore, the agreement adapts various matters to the Sectoral Agreement for Vegetable Preserves, which will allow the workforce to benefit from future improvements that may occur in that sector.
Statements from FETICO and outlook
The Secretary General of FETICO, Antonio Pérez, highlighted that “the signing of this III Collective Agreement demonstrates, once again, that collective bargaining is the best tool to advance labour rights when there is a willingness to dialogue and responsibility from all parties.”
Pérez added that FETICO “will continue to advocate for agreements that improve job quality, provide stability to companies, and respond to the real needs of workers.”
With this agreement, FETICO consolidates its presence in the industrial sector, where it has representation in other plants of the García Carrión group, such as those in Huelva, Daimiel (Ciudad Real), and the Jaume Serra winery in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona). For the workers in Gádor, the agreement represents a step forward in rights and conditions, with immediate effects on their salaries and work-life balance.
