The Vic City Council has published the guidelines for grants to promote the opening of establishments in closed premises. Each business can receive €3,000 and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until 15 October.
The Vic City Council has activated a new line of grants aimed at those who open a business in a previously vacant premises. The call, published this Tuesday in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Barcelona, offers €3,000 per establishment to strengthen the local commercial fabric.
The programme is part of municipal support for commercial entrepreneurship and aims to reduce the number of vacant shops in the city. The grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as the requirements are met, until the budget is exhausted or the application period closes.
Application period and process
The period for submitting applications is now open and will last until 15 October 2026. Interested parties must process it electronically through the Electronic Headquarters of the Vic City Council.
The granting system is non-competitive, meaning there is no competition between projects: valid requests will be addressed according to the order of submission. Therefore, it is advisable to submit the documentation as soon as possible.
Requirements and eligible areas
Those who have opened a business in a previously closed premises between 1 September 2025 and 15 October 2026 can apply for the grant. The business must be operational and have the necessary activity license.
Additionally, the applicant must be up to date with tax obligations to the City Council, the state Tax Agency, and Social Security. It is also required that the activity is lawful and respects the dignity and equality of individuals.
The grants are aimed at premises located on a specific list of streets and squares in the historic centre and its surroundings: carrer Nou, Sant Antoni, Sant Fidel, la Fusina, Trinquet, Sant Sebastià, Sant Vicenç, de les Escales, de les Neus, pla de Balenyà, Jacint Verdaguer, de Gurb, Manlleu, Argenters, Cardona, de la Riera, Arquebisbe Alemany, Bisbe Morgades, as well as the squares of Sant Màrtirs, Santa Teresa, del Carbó and Canonge Collell, and the rambles of Passeig, Davallades, dels Moncada, Hospital and Sant Domènech.

This initiative aims to boost commercial activity in the most central area of Vic, where the presence of vacant premises has increased in recent years. With this grant, the council aims to facilitate the opening of new businesses and energise the shopping promenade.
