The Plenary of Galapagar has given the green light to a budget modification of €1,175,920.98 to finance a road surfacing plan in three developments, renew public lighting and enhance street cleaning.

The Galapagar City Council approved on Thursday a budget modification of €1,175,920.98 that will allow new investments to be executed before the end of the year. The funds come from credits that had become available from unspent items or with costs lower than expected, and are now being reassigned to priority actions for the municipality.

The main allocation, of €700,000, will be dedicated to a Public Roads Improvement and Conditioning Plan. This amount is supplemented by another €363,988.64 from available credits, raising the total investment in road surfaces to over one million euros. The surfacing work will focus on the developments of Vista Nevada, Los Jarales and El Reno, where the condition of the roads shows significant deterioration due to the passage of time.

The plan aims to enhance road safety and provide more comfortable circulation for residents and drivers. The works will also include accessibility improvements and paving on several streets in the municipality, as detailed by the City Council in a statement.

In addition to the surfacing, the budget modification includes €114,000 for the renewal of public lighting. The aim is to continue modernising municipal facilities and move towards a more energy-efficient system, a line of work that the government team has been promoting in recent years.

Another significant allocation is €157,280.77 aimed at ensuring the continuity of the street cleaning service and the collection of paper and cardboard. This reinforcement will maintain the frequency and quality of the service, especially in the coming months, when an increase in waste is expected due to the celebrations of October 12 and Christmas.

The modification also includes funds to complete actions in potable water supply, mobility and transport, as well as for the festivities area, in view of local celebrations and Christmas events.

The local government team has emphasised that this reassignment of credits responds to responsible and effective management of public resources. Instead of leaving unspent items that were no longer necessary, it has opted to invest them in real needs of the municipality, with a direct impact on the quality of life of residents.

With this measure, Galapagar is taking advantage of budget surpluses to tackle actions that have been pending for some time, such as the surfacing of developments, and reinforces essential services such as street cleaning and lighting. The surfacing works are expected to begin in the coming weeks, according to municipal sources.
