The Governing Board has given the green light to the payment of the second annual grant to neighbourhood entities, which had been pending due to requirements from the Audit Office.
The Palma City Council approved on Wednesday the payment of €105,818.79 to seven neighbourhood associations in the city, corresponding to the second and final annual grant of the 2025-2026 call for subsidies. The agreement, adopted by the Governing Board, continues the processing of these aids, which had been delayed due to the review of files requested by the Audit Office.
The beneficiary entities are the Citizens' Association of Neighbours of Coll d’en Rabassa, the Neighbours' Association of Son Espanyol, the Neighbours' Association Es Fortí, the Neighbours' Association La Femu, the Federation of Neighbours of sa Ciutat de Palma, the Neighbours' Association Ses Cases Noves, and the Neighbours' Association Tramuntana Cas Capiscol Son Busquets. All of them have correctly justified the execution of the projects developed during the 2025 annual period and have accredited at least 90% of the first annual payment received, according to municipal reports.
With this resolution, the City Council fulfills its commitment to the neighbourhood entities to expedite the payment of the subsidies once the document review phase has been completed. The technical and administrative services have verified that the subsidised projects have been executed in accordance with the planned objectives, allowing for the payment of this second annual grant.
The aids, which total €105,818.79, are intended to finance community dynamisation activities, popular festivals, operational expenses of the entities, maintenance of their social headquarters, and, in some cases, personnel expenses. The aim is to strengthen the associative fabric and promote citizen participation, coexistence, and social cohesion in the different neighbourhoods of Palma.
This payment adds to the second and final advance of €69,500 approved last June for the Federation of Neighbours' Associations of Palma. The processing of these subsidies had been conditioned by the requirements of the Audit Office regarding calls from previous years granted during the last legislature, which necessitated the review of various files.
The City Council assures that in the coming weeks it will continue to resolve and pay the pending subsidies corresponding to this call. The goal is to continue promoting citizen participation and strengthen the associative fabric of the city, contributing to the dynamisation of the neighbourhoods of Palma.
For the neighbourhood associations, these aids are essential to maintain their daily activities in service of the residents. The Neighbours' Association of Coll d’en Rabassa, one of the beneficiaries, will be able to finance its community dynamisation projects, while the Federation of Neighbours of sa Ciutat de Palma will allocate the funds to operational expenses and maintenance of its headquarters.
The resolution of this call represents a relief for the entities, which had been waiting for months for the payment of these amounts. With the authorised payment, the Palma City Council takes another step towards normalising neighbourhood subsidies, following the administrative problems arising from the requirements of the Audit Office.
