The Municipal Budget project for 2026 amounts to 66.2 million euros, a 10.9% increase compared to the previous year. Investments double to 5.3 million, with allocations to rescue the Market of Abastos and purchase 40 social housing units.

The Utrera City Council will present the Municipal Budget project for the 2026 fiscal year at a plenary session this Thursday, amounting to 66.2 million euros. This figure represents a 10.9% increase compared to the 2025 budget of 59.7 million, consolidating an upward trend that began in 2023 with 57 million.

The mayor, Francisco Jiménez, presented the main lines of a budget he described as "expansive but responsible" on Wednesday. The increase in revenue is based, as he explained, on a "realistic estimate of recognized rights," which will allow the City Council to have "greater liquidity" and shorten payment terms to suppliers.

On the revenue side, current transfers constitute the largest item, with 28 million euros, 42% of the total. This is followed by taxes and fees, contributing 10.5 million; indirect taxes, with 1.8 million; and capital transfers, totaling 1.4 million. Additionally, the City Council plans to request an investment loan worth 3 million euros.

Regarding expenditure, Chapter II (current expenditure on goods and services) absorbs 42% of resources, with 27.8 million. Chapter I (personnel) represents 38%, with 25 million euros. The municipal workforce consists of 363 employees, divided between 272 civil servants—four more than the previous year—and 91 workers, which has decreased by one.

The main novelty of the 2026 budget is the investment chapter, allocated 5.3 million euros, representing a 101% increase compared to 2025. The mayor justified this investment effort by stating that "we have always been restrained with spending, but now we are going to undertake necessary investments."

Among the specific projects, the rescue of the concession for the Market of Abastos stands out, currently managed by the company Bogaris, to regain direct municipal management of the facilities. The purchase of 40 social housing units located in the El Tinte industrial estate, on Antonio de Nebrija street, is also planned, aiming to expand the public stock of affordable rental housing.

Jiménez emphasized that the budget has been prepared with "criteria of prudence" and that all items are justified based on projected revenues. The approval plenary session will be held tomorrow Thursday, and the budget is expected to come into effect on January 1, 2026.

For the residents of Utrera, the increase in investment will translate into improvements in public facilities and an expansion of the social housing offer. The rescue of the Market of Abastos will also allow the City Council to have direct control over a key commercial space in the town centre.

With this budget, Utrera is on a path of growth in public spending that contrasts with the restraint of previous years. The City Council is confident that the 3 million loan and the increase in current transfers will ensure the viability of the budget without compromising financial stability.
