Renting registrations increase by 10.16% by July, with 235,388 units, and the sector now captures 26.48% of the total market.
The renting sector continues to gain ground in the Spanish automotive market. By July 2026, 235,388 vehicles have been registered through this method, which is 10.16% more than in the same period last year, according to data published by the Spanish Association of Vehicle Renting (AER).
This growth nearly doubles that of the overall market, which has recorded an increase of 6.18%, with 888,879 units sold. Renting now represents 26.48% of all registrations, compared to 25.53% in 2025.
The month of July was particularly positive: 30,968 cars were registered, 6.40% more than in July 2025, while the total market grew by 3.94% in that month. Within the business channel, renting accounted for 50.38% of registrations in July.
By segments, renting has a significant presence in derived vehicles, vans, and pickups, where it captures 42.10% of the market. In passenger cars and SUVs, it reaches 25.70%, and in light commercial vehicles, 25.90%.
The investment by renting companies in the purchase of new vehicles has also grown strongly. By July, €5.857 billion has been invested, 19.73% more than in the same period of 2025. In July alone, the investment was €775 million, 14.56% more than the previous year.
The president of AER, José-Martín Castro Acebes, has highlighted that the data confirms a solid growth trajectory, with an increase surpassing that of the general market. He noted that the rise in investments and electrified vehicles reflects the sector's commitment to renewing the vehicle fleet and to more sustainable mobility.
Among the most registered brands in renting within the business channel, the top ten account for 66.79% of the total, with Volkswagen leading the way. In terms of models, the Ford Transit tops the ranking, with a growth of 21.14% in the cumulative total.
For drivers in the province of Huelva, renting is consolidating as an alternative to access new vehicles without the need for a large initial investment, with monthly payments that include maintenance and insurance. Local dealerships are increasingly offering this option, especially in the van and commercial vehicle segment, which is closely linked to the agricultural and fishing sectors in Huelva.
The next key data point will be the closure of the third quarter, which will confirm whether the sector maintains this growth pace in the final stretch of the year.
