Huelva port has recorded a traffic of 14.4 million tonnes during the first half of 2026, with a slight decrease of 0.4% compared to the same period in 2025. Liquid bulk, which accounts for nearly 75% of the total, grew by 2.15%.
Huelva port moved 14.4 million tonnes of goods between January and June 2026, according to data presented this Wednesday by the Port Authority. This figure represents a decrease of 0.4% compared to the same semester of the previous year, although the president of the entity, Alberto Santana, has positively assessed the evolution of liquid bulk, which grew by 2.15% to reach 10.8 million tonnes.
Liquid bulk represents nearly 75% of the total traffic at the Huelva dock, and its growth has been driven by an increase in fuel movement. Santana highlighted that this segment is the "main asset" of the port and that the new infrastructures underway, aimed at both general cargo and liquid bulk, "will continue to boost the competitiveness" of the enclave.
On the negative side, solid bulk fell by 7.6% compared to the first half of 2025, with a volume of 2.5 million tonnes. General cargo also decreased by 8.2%, standing at 885,207 tonnes. The Port Authority attributes this trend to the international geopolitical context, which is affecting global supply chains.
In terms of container traffic, Huelva port moved over 60,400 TEUs (twenty-foot containers) during the first six months of the year. The Intermodal Transport Units (UTI) of roll-on/roll-off cargo exceeded 14,400 units.
The traffic of cars under general cargo recorded a spectacular growth of 74% compared to the same period in 2025, with more than 26,500 units moved. This increase consolidates the positive trend of recent quarters and positions Huelva port as a relevant node for vehicle distribution in the southwestern peninsula.
Alberto Santana emphasized that the port "continues to enhance its competitiveness" with the implementation of new infrastructures, especially those aimed at general cargo and liquid bulk movement. "These actions will contribute to the growth of the port in the coming years," he stated.
The semi-annual balance reflects the Port Authority's commitment to diversifying traffic and strengthening Huelva's position in international maritime trade. Forecasts for the second half point to a stabilization of solid bulk and a maintenance of growth in car and container traffic.
