Authorities are searching for 'El Godoy', alleged leader of the Anti Union, which is contesting control of Tepito against La Unión Tepito. The information was released by journalist Carlos Jiménez.

The struggle for control of the Tepito neighbourhood in Mexico City has a new name: “El Godoy”. This individual has been identified as the alleged leader of the Anti Union, a criminal organisation that is facing La Unión Tepito for dominance in illegal activities in the area.

The information was revealed by journalist Carlos Jiménez, who shared a photograph of the suspect and detailed that “El Godoy” would be responsible for ordering several recent crimes against members of La Unión Tepito.

According to the report, “El Godoy” acts alongside another alleged accomplice known as “El Bro”, with whom he seeks to displace the rival organisation and consolidate control of the territory.

The photograph that seeks to locate him

The shared image shows a robust man with a dark complexion and a shaved head, sitting in a garden chair during an outdoor meeting. He wears a burgundy polo shirt and navy blue shorts, and has a metal bracelet on his left wrist.

The photo, of low resolution and with watermarks, was shared to facilitate identification by the public. Authorities in the capital have not officially confirmed the identity of the individual nor whether there is an arrest warrant against him.

However, the dissemination occurs in a context of increased violence among criminal groups vying for Tepito, one of the main operational points for drug dealing in the capital.

A call for citizen collaboration

Carlos Jiménez made a public appeal for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of “El Godoy” to report it to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC CDMX), or the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX).

So far, no official statement has been issued confirming his identity or detailing the accusations. Nevertheless, the struggle for Tepito has resulted in several murders in recent weeks, raising alarms among residents and authorities.

For local residents, the situation is critical: the rise in violence affects daily life and safety in the neighbourhood. Residents are advised to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to emergency lines.
