The Palos de la Frontera Town Hall has launched a new edition of its training programme in green hydrogen, aimed at 45 unemployed young people from the municipality. The initiative, which has an investment of over €600,000, combines specialised technical training with monthly scholarships to facilitate employment in a rapidly expanding sector in the province of Huelva.
The courses, which have already begun, are held at the Palos de la Frontera Business Initiatives Centre and last for ten months, with a total of approximately 1,400 teaching hours. Participants can choose from three training pathways: maintenance of instrumentation and control systems in green hydrogen production facilities; electricity and technologies for the production and maintenance of green hydrogen; and mechanical maintenance and assembly of industrial equipment related to this technology.
The mayor of Palos de la Frontera, Milagros Romero, has highlighted that the programme reflects the Town Hall's commitment to youth employment and the economic development of the municipality. She explained that the aim is for the young people of Palos to be the first to take advantage of the job opportunities that will arise from the growth of green hydrogen and clean energies in the industrial environment of Huelva.
In addition to technical training, students receive a monthly scholarship that allows them to cover daily expenses during the programme, thus enabling them to fully dedicate themselves to learning. This financial aid is crucial for participants to avoid dropping out of training due to economic reasons.
The programme also reflects an increase in female participation in this edition, a progress that the Town Hall values as a step towards equal opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
