Mercadona incorporates its freshly ground coffee service at the supermarket on Jacinto Benavente street, 15, in Vigo. The start date will be July 27 and it joins other stores in the metropolitan area.

Mercadona is finalising the arrival of its freshly made coffee service in the city of Vigo. The supermarket chain has confirmed that the store located at number 15 on Jacinto Benavente street will begin offering freshly ground coffee from next July 27.

The company has already placed an informative sign in the establishment announcing the premiere date. This service adds to those already operating in other parts of the province of Pontevedra, such as Mos, Tui, Marín, and Lalín.

With this initiative, Mercadona aims to compete directly with traditional cafes. Customers will be able to enjoy their coffee at the tables and chairs already available in the supermarket or take it away to consume outside.

The beans are ground on the spot and we offer superior quality, sources from Mercadona state.

The vending machine will offer four varieties: espresso, cortado, coffee with milk, and cappuccino. All made with freshly ground beans, according to the company.

An expanding service

Mercadona began implementing this coffee model in its stores a few months ago. The first in the province of Pontevedra was the supermarket in Mos, which launched it in April 2026. Since then, the chain has been extending it to other municipalities.

The company has already announced on its website that the service would be gradually implemented in its stores. Now, with the opening in Vigo, the city joins the list of locations with freshly ground coffee at Mercadona.

For local customers, this new service provides another option for breakfast or having a coffee mid-morning without needing to go to a traditional cafe. Additionally, the price of coffee at Mercadona tends to be more affordable than that of hospitality establishments.

The service will be available during the supermarket's opening hours, which are usually from 9:00 to 21:30. Customers will be able to pay at the checkout or at the machine itself, depending on the model installed.

At the moment, the Jacinto Benavente store is the only one in Vigo that will have this service, although the company does not rule out expanding it to other supermarkets in the city in the future.
