The City Council of Madrid has launched a guide with all the information about the three lines of support for the self-employed in 2026, endowed with two million euros. The grants, ranging from 2,500 to 10,000 euros, are aimed at generational change, job creation, and new registrations in the RETA.

The City Council of Madrid has published a practical guide that includes the details of the three calls for support for the self-employed in force in 2026. The council will allocate two million euros to grants aimed at promoting generational change, job creation, and entrepreneurship in the capital.

Self-employed individuals with a tax or social address in Madrid can apply for these grants as long as they meet the requirements of each line and have not been beneficiaries in 2025. Additionally, they must be up to date with their obligations to the Tax Agency, Social Security, and the City Council itself.

Three lines of support for different profiles of self-employed individuals

The first line, aimed at generational change of businesses, offers a grant of 10,000 euros for self-employed individuals who have taken over the continuity of an activity as successors or relievers during 2025. As a novelty, the call also includes transfers between communities of goods, civil societies, or sole proprietorships.

The second line is directed at self-employed individuals who have created net jobs in 2025 compared to the previous year. The grant can reach up to 5,000 euros when the average staff increase is at least one worker. If the increase is lower, the amount is calculated proportionally.

The third line, newly created, promotes entrepreneurship among those who registered in the RETA during 2025 and have not been registered as self-employed in the previous five years. They will receive 2,500 euros.

The same self-employed individual can apply for all three grants if they meet the requirements for each. The grants are compatible with other public aids, although the beneficiary must declare all received for the same purpose.

Application deadline until July 23 and resolution in six months

Applications can be submitted until July 23, 2026, electronically through the municipal electronic headquarters or in person at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and other registration offices.

The Government Area of Economy, Innovation, and Finance will resolve the granting or denial within a maximum period of six months from the closing of the call. If there is no express resolution, the application will be deemed rejected by administrative silence.

More than 200,000 self-employed individuals carry out their activities in the capital. According to municipal data, between 2021 and 2025, more than 11 million euros in aid were granted to this group, benefiting more than 3,100 self-employed workers.

To facilitate the process, the City Council recommends reviewing the guide before submitting the application and ensuring that all requirements are met. The necessary documentation includes proof of registration in the RETA, work history, and, where applicable, employment contracts that demonstrate job creation.
