Argentinian Gero Arias won by unanimous decision against Spanish Viruzz at La Velada del Año VI. After the victory, he challenged American Jake Paul.
The sixth edition of La Velada del Año, organised by Ibai Llanos, featured one of the most anticipated fights on its card. Argentinian Gero Arias faced Spanish Viruzz in a match that stood out for its high technical level and ended with a victory for the former by unanimous decision from all five judges.
Viruzz entered the ring as the competitor with the most experience in the history of the event, having fought five times. He had lost to Míster Jagger in the first edition and then secured victories against Momo, Shelao, and Tomás Mazza. However, tonight he added his second defeat at La Velada.
The fight was the first of the night authorised without headgear, an exception granted by the organisation due to the experience of both boxers. From the very first seconds, Gero Arias established a clear advantage.
Shortly after the first round began, referee Salvador Salva made a verbal indication without stopping the action. Upon resuming, the Argentinian landed a left hook that sent Viruzz to the canvas. The Spaniard managed to get up and continue, but the first round was clearly in Arias's favour, who showed greater accuracy and better timing.
In the second round, the control remained with the Argentinian representative. Viruzz tried to respond with a higher volume of punches, but the scorecards forced him to seek a knockout to change the outcome.
The third and final round saw Viruzz maintain the initiative and keep advancing, but Gero Arias responded with clearer and more effective punches. As the round progressed, the Spaniard began to take punishment without finding a response that could alter the course of the fight.
At the end of the three rounds, all five judges agreed to award the victory to Gero Arias by unanimous decision. With this result, he became the first Argentinian to win a fight in this edition of La Velada del Año VI.
After receiving the winner's belt, the Argentinian content creator surprised everyone by stating his next goal: to face American Jake Paul, one of the most well-known names in boxing among celebrities and content creators. Months earlier, during the event's presentation, Arias had mentioned that one of his sporting goals was to try to reach the Olympic Games, but after the victory, he focused his speech on the possibility of measuring himself against Paul.
