The Huelva-based supermarket chain El Jamón has acquired the Granada-based Supermercados Dani, incorporating 19 establishments and 570 employees. The operation allows it to land in Almería and reach all eight Andalusian provinces.
The Huelva supermarket chain El Jamón has made a significant move in the Andalusian market. The company, headquartered in Huelva, has completed the purchase of the Granada-based Supermercados Dani, an operation that allows it to land in Almería and complete its presence in all eight provinces of the autonomous community.
The acquisition adds 19 supermarkets to El Jamón's network: fourteen in Granada, two in Jaén, two in Málaga, and one in Almería. This is complemented by 570 employees and 28,300 square meters of commercial space. With this move, the Huelva-based firm reaches nearly 300,000 square meters of sales area, to which it adds another 14,000 dedicated to its wholesale activity.
The operation represents a qualitative leap for El Jamón, which consolidates itself as the third largest food distribution company in Andalusia by commercial area. Until now, the only Andalusian province where it did not have stores was Almería; the establishment in Adra fills that gap and strengthens its presence in eastern Andalusia.
An Agreement Between Two Family Businesses
The purchase of Supermercados Dani is not just a figure on a balance sheet. Behind it are two family companies that have grown from their roots in the territory and proximity to the customer. The CEO of El Jamón, Mabel Díaz, has highlighted that the operation represents "an excellent opportunity to continue consolidating our position in the province of Granada and continue growing in Andalusia." Díaz emphasized that the company maintains its expansion strategy by incorporating Andalusian family businesses with which it shares values.
The executive recalled the close relationship that both companies have maintained for years within the IFA group. As she explained, their paths have run parallel, and this relationship of trust has allowed for an agreement to be reached as a result of a negotiation that was "cordial, fluid, and based on good rapport and friendship."
For his part, the owner of Supermercados Dani, Daniel Lozano, has emphasized the continuity of the business project. In his view, the legacy built over decades by his family will continue to develop under the leadership of another Andalusian family business, which is good news for employees, suppliers, customers, and the business fabric of the community.
A New Boost for the Huelva Chain
With this acquisition, Supermercados El Jamón gives a new boost to a sustained growth model based on investment, proximity, and commitment to the economic development of Andalusia. The operation not only increases its commercial dimension but also strengthens its position among the main regional food distribution operators and expands its capacity to compete in an increasingly concentrated market.
The integration of Supermercados Dani consolidates El Jamón's commitment to grow through family companies with a solid territorial presence, preserving its identity and strengthening a business model linked to employment and proximity. Residents of the province of Huelva, where El Jamón originated and has a strong presence, can see how their trusted chain becomes a regional benchmark without losing its essence.
The integration process will begin next month in October, when the establishments will progressively start changing their branding to operate under the Supermercados El Jamón name. Customers of the former Dani stores will notice few changes beyond the name: the philosophy of proximity and local products remains, but with the strength of a network that now totals nearly 300,000 square meters of sales area.
