Vox has presented an amendment to the accompanying law of the budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana to generally reduce the Income Tax (IRPF) in two phases: one in 2026 and another in 2027.

The Vox Parliamentary Group in the Valencian Cortes has registered an amendment to the accompanying law of the Generalitat's Budgets for 2026 proposing a general reduction of the Personal Income Tax (IRPF). The measure, as explained by Vox's spokesperson, José María Llanos, will benefit all taxpayers, including families, workers, and the self-employed.

Two phases for the IRPF reduction

The reform proposed by Vox would be implemented in two phases. The first would come into effect in 2026, and the second, with an identical percentage reduction, would be applied in 2027. The intention is to consolidate a progressive decrease in the tax burden on the income of Valencians.

Llanos detailed that the tax cut is one of Vox's three priorities in budget negotiations, along with addressing the housing issue and defending national priorities. The party had already advanced in May its demand to reduce the tax burden on families and the middle class.

Other measures included in the amendments

In addition to the IRPF reduction, Vox has presented amendments in areas such as housing, social services, immigration, security, education, industry, and emergency management. It also proposes a 5% reduction in all hunting fees to alleviate the administrative and economic burden on the Valencian hunting sector.

The initiative was announced this Thursday by Llanos and Alicante deputy Teresa Ramírez. Last December, Vox had already urgently brought a series of measures to the Cortes to promote a tax cut and eliminate unnecessary spending.

What it means for taxpayers

If the amendment succeeds, Valencian taxpayers would see their regional IRPF reduced in two successive phases. The measure aims to increase the disposable income of families and the self-employed, strengthening their economic capacity in a context of inflation and rising costs.

The proposal is part of the negotiation of the Generalitat's budgets, where Vox is a partner of the PP. The tax cut has been a recurring demand of Abascal's party, which now specifies it in an amendment to the accompanying law.

The processing of the amendment will be debated in the coming weeks in the Valencian Cortes. The outcome will depend on agreements between parliamentary groups, especially between the PP and Vox, which support the Generalitat government.
