The National Police have arrested a young man in Valladolid for hitting another on the head with a knuckleduster, after previously challenging him via messages to come down to the street. The victim received six staples in the scalp.

A young man from Valladolid has been arrested by the National Police after assaulting another with a knuckleduster in the early hours of July 12, the institution reported this Saturday. The assailant, who had no prior record, was released with the obligation to appear before the judge.

The events began when the arrested individual, according to the complaint, sent threatening messages to the victim demanding that he come down to the street. Otherwise, he claimed he would go after him and his mother, as stated in the police report.

A prior argument with the assailant's brother

The victim explained in his complaint that he had been encountering the brother of the alleged assailant for some time, with whom he had personal disagreements. Whenever they crossed paths on the street, the brother would hurl insults at him, but he ignored them to avoid confrontations.

However, on the night of July 12, the victim decided to go out into the street to confront the assailant about his brother's behaviour. Upon stepping outside, the other young man suddenly pulled out a knuckleduster and began to hit him repeatedly.

The victim tried to take refuge in the entrance of his house, but received a strong blow to the back of his head that caused a severe hemorrhage. The assailant fled the scene, while the injured party managed to reach the emergency room of the Clinical University Hospital of Valladolid on his own.

Six staples in the head and a complaint

At the hospital, the medical staff treated the young man for his bruises and placed six staples in the scalp to close the wound, as noted in the medical report that the victim provided to the National Police in his complaint.

Police investigations allowed for the full identification of the alleged assailant, who was arrested on July 16 accused of a crime of injury. After giving a statement at the police station, and with no prior record or risk of flight, the young man was released with the obligation to appear before the judicial authority when required.

The National Police remind the importance of not responding to provocations and reporting any threats to prevent such situations from escalating into physical violence. In the event of receiving intimidating messages, they recommend keeping evidence and going to the nearest police station.

The case is now in the hands of the judicial authority, which will determine the date of the trial for injury. The victim, for his part, continues to recover from his injuries at home.
