The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines has tendered the adaptation works for the ITV station in San Juan del Puerto, with a budget of over 952,000 euros and an execution period of eight months.
The Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) station in San Juan del Puerto, which serves the entire Metropolitan area of Huelva, will undergo a thorough reform that includes everything from the redistribution of offices to the replacement of electrical and plumbing installations. The Junta de Andalucía, through Industrial Verifications of Andalucía (Veiasa), has put the project out to tender for an amount of 952,000 euros (VAT included), as stated in the published announcement.
An ITV with over 30 years of history
The station, which began operations on January 2, 1991, was built by the company ITASA, which was then the concessionaire for the service in zone number 1 of Huelva. In 2011, after the contract was terminated, the facility reverted to the Administration and was directly managed by Veiasa. Now, three decades later, a comprehensive reform is being undertaken to modernise facilities that have become obsolete.
The project includes the reform of the administrative area, with redistribution of offices, renovation of toilets and changing rooms, and the construction of a women's changing room. The infrastructures of the old provisional shell will also be removed, interior doors and windows will be replaced, and the false ceiling and flooring will be renewed. In the waiting room, administration area, and the chief of ITV's office, a wall covering will be installed to improve the finish.
Actions on installations and exteriors
The adaptation of the installations includes the complete dismantling of the electrical installation, lighting system, plumbing, and sanitation of bathrooms and changing rooms. A new public address system and a solar thermal installation will be executed, and the compressed air system will be replaced. The air conditioning system for offices, currently out of use, will be dismantled.
Outside, the pavement will be improved, and sidewalks and curbs will be repaired. Horizontal and vertical signage will be renewed, bollards in the parking area will be removed, and the fencing of the plot will be replaced with welded mesh. The entrance and exit doors for inspection lines L1 and L2 will be replaced with automatic doors, and an ITV monolith, a sign with the station number, and illuminated signs will be installed.
The works will not affect the service
The Junta has established that the operation of the station cannot be affected by the works. If necessary, the work will be carried out outside opening hours to ensure that drivers can continue to undergo inspections without interruptions. Interested companies have until July 28 to submit their bids, and the execution period for the works will be eight months.
This investment represents a relief for users in the region, who often complain about the state of the facilities. With the reform, it is expected to improve the experience for drivers and the efficiency of the service.
