The Cámara de Sevilla Foundation has signed an agreement with the Nao Victoria Foundation to promote the Exploraterra Space and give prominence to the Real Fernando, the first steamship built in Spain.
The Cámara de Sevilla Foundation has reached an agreement with the Nao Victoria Foundation to become an Official Collaborating Institution of the Exploraterra Interpretation Centre, located next to the Torre del Oro. The agreement, signed by the presidents of both entities, Francisco Herrero and José Fernández de Cabo, strengthens the historic alliance between the two institutions and gives a central role to the Real Fernando.
The Real Fernando, built in 1817, was the first steamship manufactured in Spain and operated the route between Seville and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Its current replica, managed by the Nao Victoria Foundation, operates within the Exploraterra Space as an attraction for historical dissemination and the celebration of unique events.
The agreement stipulates that the Seville Chamber of Commerce will use the ship for its corporate events, institutional meetings, and representation activities, offering the Seville business community a privileged setting on the banks of the Guadalquivir.
The central purpose of the collaboration is to disseminate Seville's historical prominence in major maritime expeditions, as well as to promote activities to preserve and promote trades related to navigation and maritime heritage. All this activity will be channelled through Exploraterra, a socio-cultural space that pays homage to the exploratory and entrepreneurial spirit that changed the world.
Furthermore, the Real Fernando represents the historical origin of the Cámara de Comercio de Sevilla itself, which has been linked to navigation and maritime trade since its inception. With the signing of this agreement, both institutions activate their alliance for the realization, promotion, and dissemination of the centre's activities, reinforcing their commitment to the cultural and economic dynamism of the city.
