The electricity company has replaced 900 metres of underground cabling on Pasaje de Triana street and Avenida de Andalucía, benefiting over 4,200 customers.
Endesa, through its subsidiary e-distribución, has completed the reinforcement works of the medium voltage network in Castilleja de la Cuesta, an action that has involved an investment of over €160,000. The works consisted of the replacement of 900 metres of underground cabling, which will improve the quality and reliability of the electricity supply for more than 4,200 residential and commercial customers in the Aljarafe municipality.
Works coordinated with the City Council
As it is an underground network, the company had to coordinate with the City Council for the opening of trenches on Pasaje de Triana street and Avenida de Andalucía, two of the main roads in the locality. During the works, traffic diversions were organised to minimise inconvenience to residents, although the City Council assures that the impact has been punctual and controlled.
The new installation incorporates the latest technology in materials and insulation, which reduces the risk of breakdowns and improves the response capacity in case of incidents. According to sources from Endesa, this renewal is part of the e-distribución Investment Plan for Seville, approved by the Junta de Andalucía, which includes measures for the renovation, automation, and expansion of electricity distribution networks in the province.
An investment looking towards renewables
The plan not only aims to reinforce the current service but also to facilitate the progressive integration of renewable energies into the distribution network. In this sense, the improvement of the infrastructure in Castilleja de la Cuesta allows for greater capacity to absorb distributed generation, such as that produced by solar panels installed on the roofs of homes and businesses.
For residents, the main consequence will be a lower probability of power outages and greater voltage stability, something especially valued during periods of high consumption, such as summer or cold waves. Endesa highlights that these actions result in a more efficient and sustainable service.

The works, which have been carried out in recent weeks, have now been completed and the new infrastructure is operational. The investment of €160,000 adds to other similar actions that the company is carrying out at different points in the province of Seville, as part of a global plan that exceeds €40 million annually in the autonomous community.
Customers affected by the occasional outages during the works were informed in advance, and the company assures that no serious incidents have been recorded. Now, with the renewed network, the more than 4,200 users in Castilleja de la Cuesta can breathe easier: the next time they turn on the washing machine or air conditioning, electricity will arrive with more guarantees.
