The Ibex 35 rose by 1.37% this Monday, surpassing 19,850 points, a level never reached before. This increase coincides with the drop in oil prices due to diplomatic advances between the United States and Iran.

The Ibex 35 recorded a 1.37% rise this Monday, taking it past 19,850 points, thus marking a new all-time high in its quotation. The Madrid selective index has been boosted by the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which has caused a collapse in oil prices.

The Brent barrel, a European benchmark, has fallen by 6.9% to settle at $85.2, while the US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) has dropped by 7.22% to $82.6. This decline responds to progress in talks between the United States and Iran, which have reduced the geopolitical risk premium in the markets.

Iranian authorities have confirmed that there is an exchange of messages with Washington, although they have emphasized that their priority remains to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity. The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqaei, stated that the goal is to protect their people from the war crimes attributed to the United States.

In the business context, several companies have announced significant news. Línea Directa has reported a net profit of €52.09 million in the first half, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Acciona Energía has reached an agreement to sell a wind portfolio of 361 megawatts (MW) in Spain to the Portuguese company Galp for €432 million, with no financial debt in the perimeter.

Banco Sabadell has announced the initiation of a share buyback program for a maximum amount of €331 million. The entity plans to retain the shares in treasury for subsequent amortization through a capital reduction, an operation that strengthens shareholder remuneration.

At the opening of the session, the worst-performing stocks were Repsol (-2.9%), Naturgy (-1.4%), and Acerinox (-0.4%). On the opposite side, the biggest gains were seen in IAG (+4%), Grifols (+2.2%), and Inditex (+2%).

In the main European stock indices, London's FTSE 100 rose by 0.5%, Frankfurt's DAX advanced by 1.4%, and Paris's CAC 40 gained 0.9%. Fixed income also reflected optimism: the yield on the Spanish 10-year bond fell by 1.2% to 3.6%, while the euro appreciated against the dollar to $1.1407.

For investors, this scenario presents an opportunity in cyclical and financial sectors, although geopolitical volatility remains latent. The drop in oil prices benefits companies with high energy consumption but weighs on oil companies. The evolution of talks between the United States and Iran will be key in the coming days to maintain the upward trend.
