Soledad Fernández Doctor, Cristina Narbona and Manuel Llamas appear this week in the Senate in the PP's investigation committees regarding SEPI and the Koldo case.
The Senate resumes this week the investigation committees initiated by the Popular Party with the appearance of three key figures: the former director general of the Tax Agency, Soledad Fernández Doctor; the president of the PSOE, Cristina Narbona; and the deputy operational director (DAO) of the Civil Guard, Manuel Llamas. The sessions will focus on the management of SEPI and the various aspects of the so-called 'Koldo case'.
Soledad Fernández Doctor opens the round of appearances
The first to appear will be Soledad Fernández Doctor, who until a few days ago headed the State Agency for Tax Administration (AEAT). Her replacement, requested by herself, was approved by the Council of Ministers, and the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, described it as a change within the "normality".
Fernández Doctor's appearance is particularly significant due to the progress of judicial investigations related to the 'Plus Ultra case'. The Tax Agency has decided to become a party in one of the pieces of this case following the offer from the judge of the National Court José Luis Calama, considering it one of the possible affected parties.
The PP expects the former director to clarify possible irregularities in the management of SEPI and her relationship with the bailouts to companies during the pandemic. The meeting is scheduled for Monday.
Cristina Narbona summoned over the 'Koldo case'
The investigation committee on the 'Koldo case' will continue on Tuesday with the appearance of Cristina Narbona, president of the PSOE. The Popular Party argues that she must provide explanations regarding her alleged connection with what they call the "cloacas command".
The summons comes after the PSOE acknowledged that former socialist member Leire Díez passed information to Narbona during 2024. According to the socialist leader herself, she never received documentation and merely referred the matter to the then secretary of Organisation of the party, Santos Cerdán.
From Ferraz, they assert that Cerdán subsequently reviewed that material and concluded that it did not contain new information.
However, the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard maintains that Leire Díez kept Narbona informed of various actions aimed, according to investigators, at "redirecting" what she considered attacks against the Prime Minister. Narbona's appearance will be key to clarifying her role in these events.
Manuel Llamas closes the week in the Senate
The last appearance of the week will be that of the deputy operational director of the Civil Guard, Manuel Llamas, scheduled for Friday in the same investigation committee regarding the 'Koldo case'. The PP has argued that Llamas must explain his alleged connection with the so-called "cloacas command".
His intervention comes a day after the judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz decided to summon him as an investigated party, along with the director general of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González, for possible crimes of prevarication and obstruction of justice in the context of the 'Leire Díez case'.
According to the UCO's investigation, the former socialist member allegedly held several meetings with the director general of the Civil Guard and attempted to promote internal actions against the very unit responsible for the investigations. Llamas's appearance will be crucial to understanding the scope of these inquiries.
For citizens interested in institutional transparency, these appearances represent an opportunity to hear firsthand the explanations of those involved. The sessions will be broadcast live via the Senate's website and are expected to generate intense political debate.
