The province of Huelva recorded 15,271 companies registered with Social Security in June 2026, an increase of 1% compared to the same month last year, according to data from the IECA.
The number of companies registered with Social Security in the province of Huelva reached 15,271 in June 2026, which represents a 1% increase compared to the same month last year, when 15,118 companies were counted. This is reflected in the data published this week by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA).
However, compared to May 2026, the figure recorded a slight decrease of 0.36%, as in the fifth month of the year there were 15,327 companies. This trend contrasts with the regional trend, as in the whole of Andalusia the number of companies in June rose to 252,071, representing a year-on-year growth of 1.5%.
The services sector continues to be the one that concentrates the largest number of companies in the province, with 10,420 companies, an increase of 1.35% compared to May. It is followed by the primary sector — agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishing — with 2,522 companies, although it experienced a decrease of 8.09% compared to the previous month. Construction registered 1,429 companies, an increase, while industry was the sector with the least number, with 900 companies, one less than in May.
By economic activities, wholesale and retail trade leads the ranking with 3,274 companies. It is followed by hospitality (2,286), other services (959), transport and storage (621), health and social services (518), administrative activities (710), education (315), real estate activities (304), artistic and sports activities (308), professional and technical activities (704), telecommunications and IT (92), financial and insurance activities (195), publishing and broadcasting (39), and households as employers (94).
In the industrial sector, there are 800 manufacturing companies, 26 in extractive industries, 25 in electricity, gas, and air conditioning supply, and 49 in water supply and waste management.
Regarding size, companies with 1 to 2 employees predominate, with 7,085 companies. At the other end, only 69 companies have 250 or more workers, a figure that represents a decrease from 107 in the previous month.
In terms of legal form, limited liability companies are the majority, with 7,054 companies, followed by individuals (5,968), public limited companies (651), and cooperatives (247).
The total number of workers affiliated with these companies in June was 172,568 people, representing a decrease of 21.4% compared to May, when 219,774 employees were registered. This drop is largely explained by the end of the red fruit campaign, which affects the agricultural sector. By sectors, services account for 103,490 workers, followed by agriculture (39,096), industry (17,976), and construction (12,006).
The data comes from the exploitation of the Statistical File of Contribution Accounts to Social Security, which includes the regimes of wage earners. Since January 2026, economic activity has been coded according to the new National Classification of Economic Activities 2025 (CNAE-2025), which represents a break in the monthly series.
